institution providing programs in civil and environmental
engineering, regional development, advanced technology, and
management. It has over 13,000+++ alumni from 72 countries.
Guided by an international faculty from top-caliber universities
in Asia, Europe and America, over 1,600 students around the
globe explore the frontiers of engineering technology as
they prepare to lead the next generation.
AIT’s regional leadership role in higher education
is well-established. By enhancing human resource development
in research and outreach relevant to the needs of the region,
AIT actively contributes to the development of Asia. At AIT,
Asia’s most promising young men and women learn together
to become technology leaders of the world.
School
of Civil Engineering (www.sce.ait.ac.th)
The School of Civil Engineering (SCE) has a growing network
of 4,000 alumni from 40 countries around the world. The majority
occupies senior positions in well-established organizations
where they provide urgently needed technical and managerial
expertise. Some of them are major players in Asia’s
multifaceted infrastructure development.
SCE
students are trained and equipped with the capability to
understand engineering processes; analyze,
synthesize, and address problems and formulate solution strategies;
think across disciplines; communicate ideas; and recognize
the social, economic, and political contexts of engineering
practices. The School offers full-time doctoral program, non-resident
doctoral program, full-time master program, Certificate of
Advanced Studies and Diploma. It has an academic portfolio
that covers the following fields: (a) Construction, Engineering
and Infrastructure Management, (b) Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental
Engineering, (c) Structural Engineering, (d) Transportation
Engineering, and (e) Water Engineering and Management. In addition,
SCE offers interdisciplinary overlay programs that are known
as ‘Master of Professional Engineering’, ‘Geosystem
Exploration and Petroleum Geoengineering’ and ‘Infrastructure

PETRA
CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY
Petra Christian University (PCU) is a private university
located in Surabaya, the second biggest city of Indonesia.
As a private
university, PCU is committed to supporting the Indonesian government’s
efforts in human resources, science, and technology development.
The Civil Engineering Department of PCU has a long time link
with the School of Civil Engineering at AIT. Since 1973, there
have been over 50 AIT alumni produced within this link who
are now working as lecturers in PCU and professionals resulting
in the improvement of the academic quality and development.
Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering
The Postgraduate Program of PCU was established in September
1996. Todate, the program has produced over 90 alumni who
occupy executive positions in large construction organizations
in Indonesia and abroad. Others found their niche in academic
institutions as lecturers. Currently, Petra Postgraduate
Program has three study programs concentrating on the field
of Construction Management, Structural Engineering and
Geotechnical Engineering. It was commended as a leading
Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering by the National
Accreditation Board (Decree No. 025/BAN-PT/Ak-1/S2/IX/2000).
In the future, the program will be extended to other disciplines
in civil engineering. The dual master degree program jointly
organized with AIT is a milestone that will provide an
international education and prepare Indonesian engineers
in the globalization era.
