GEOGRAPHY

1. Geographical location and total area
   The second level region Probolinggo is located between 7'10 south latitude and 113'30 east longitude by the total width area 56,67 km2 consisting the low plain area, and it is 2,500 m above the sea level by 2% level slop. It is one of the reasons this area is very fertile.
2. Territorial border
   Probolinggo is bordered on:
   • the north by Madura Strait
   • the east by Dringin sub-district, the region of Probolinggo
   • the south by Leces and Sumberasih sub-districts, the region of Probolinggo
   • the west by Tangas sub-district, the region of Probolinggo.

   (the slope of Tengger Mountain Range, Mt. Lamongan, and Mt. Argopuro stretching from the west to the east).

3. Climate
   Just because Probolinggo is located in a tropical area, the minimum temperature in this region is 27 C and the maximum is 32 C and so forth for the climates are rainy and dry seasons. During the dry season the wind blows strong, it is usually called 'angin gending' which blows on July, August, and September each year.
4. Administrative Area of Probolinggo Municipality Probolinggo is ruled by a Mayor with the are covers: 3 sub-districts, 14 villages in urban area and 16 villages in rural area.
