HISTORY
OF MALANG
Ninety kilometers south of Surabaya lies Malang. The strong
sense of civic pride can be noiced from the well-maintained neat main square, building and
streets. The cool climate is one reason why it is highly desirable among the East Javanese
as place to retire. Twenty Kilometers from Malang on the southern flank of Mount Arjuno,
are Selecta and Sonngorit, popular hills resorts with hot springs. Five kilometers away is
Batu, famous for its apples and flowers. Sport facilities at Selecta are horse-riding,
swimming pool and tennis court.
