| Palangkaraya is the capital city of Central Kalimantan and this city is
located by the Kahayan river. To Palangkaraya, there is a direct flight every day from
Jakarta, from Solo or Surabaya via Banjarmasin.
There is also a direct flight from
Banjarmasin to Palangkaraya, which normally takes about 40 to 50 minuts. Another
alternative from Banjarmasin to Palangkaraya is by speedboat or riverbus. For those who
are interested in river sightseeings, going by riverbus may be a good choice, because
during the trip people can see natural panorama and if they are lucky, they can see some
monkeys/proboses monkeys, hombills and other sorts of animals by the river and these
animals are living in nature.
Unfortunately, so far there is no river
sightseeing guided tour yet in the province.
Places of interests there are often visited
in this municipality are : Natural Park, Bukit Tangkiling (Tangkiling Hill). This park is
still natural and is visited every weekend. It is 34 kms from Palangkaraya and it takes
only about 30 or 45 minutes to go there. This park consists of float and hilly areas. From
the hilly part people can enjoy surounding beautiful scenery. Another interesting things
of this park is its legend, that is the Legend of Batu Banama. (Batu Banama is apart of
the park.)
