PetraNet was inaugurated in June 3rd 1995 by Jonathan L. Parapak (Secretary General of Indonesian Tourism, Post, and Telecommunication Department).

To keep up with the website industry, we started to switch to web standard practices at the early 2004. It has gained many benefits for us as well as user who view them. Significant note was in faster access and less loading time in our servers.
Slowly but surely, we encourage and will apply this policy across all website that we maintain.
In order to make sure that the website and its subsidiaries are keeping up with the web standards, we encourage all site developers, programmers, editors, and maintainer in UK Petra (or its third party contractor) to read these documents.

UK Petra website offered more than just our university information, but also information to promote the tourism industry in Eastern Region of Indonesia as well as in East Java. Over the years, UK Petra website had obtained some awards.
Communication and Information Ministry held a Competition on Official University Website. It was held in Harkitnas 2003, there were 164 site judged to be the best. Top three are:
Petra Christian University website became a finalist in the Bubu Awards 2002 Design Competition in the Corporate class with the Educational Category. The judgement was held from March 9th - June 19th, 2002.
PCU website is selected as one of top 5 best University website in Indonesia by Edunet among 25 universities. The rank follows:
